Arkansas & Missouri RR aka the FRISCO

I am stretching this to be included as part of the CB&Q but the FRISCO is part of the Burlington Family.

The reason for this post is that the A&M has been forgotten since we acquired 3 Caterpillar SD70A's about 2014'ish.  The A&M was an all ALCO RS-1 powered RR till then. When the word went out the A&M had bought the Cat's we were over run with ALCO Rail Fans capturing the last heavy hauls for the Alco's.. When the Cat's went into service between Springdale, Ark. And Monet, MO and Springdale to Van Buren, Ark. the railfans deserted us because we had those Cat's.

The truth is that the A&M still uses the Alco RS-1's on the Springdale locals and all the Van Buren locals.  It was taking 10 to 15 Alco's to power the Monet and Van Buren turns.  The A&M is a vital link in the survival of NW Arkansas pulling 75 hopper loads of grain for chicken feed for the growers in NW Arkansas and SW Missouri from our interchange at Monet with the BNSF at least 5 days a week.

We interchange with the UP in Van Burn.

The A&M hauls 50 carloads to George's mill elevators at Purdy, MO and 25 carloads to Tyson in Springdale.

George's runs feed trucks 24-7 to supply it's growers.

I do hope that this is of interest to us.

Without the FRISCO aka A&M

the Fayetteville Rogers metroplex may not have come to exist.

Restfully Submitted  Tom Hammer
