Don't forget the Kendall County Historical Society east of Yorkville on Highway 71 near Van Emmon Road. They have the 1850 Plano, IL Depot there. It was used as a depot until 1914 or 15. When the new depot was built, this one was moved and used as a freight house. It was moved to the Lyon Farm in 1978. They also have CB&Q Waycar 13818.

Simply as FYI for those thinking about attending the BRHS Spring Meet here’s some other local Burlington attractions(not on the flyer) if you arrive a day early or stay over.
Also nearby restaurants if your staying at the Hampton before or after the meet.

Attractions: These are NOT OPEN FOR VISITS OR WALKING AROUND but might be of interest simply to see.

The original Bristol,IL depot is a converted private residence in the village. It’s on the west edge of the village. You can’t miss it because of the architecture.

The converted Sheridan depot is outside town. The owner specifically doesn’t want the exact address released. Ask at the meet for general directions.

The massive Silica plant in Wedron is only 8.5 miles down the track from Sheridan.

At Ottawa the Q depot is the HQ for current RR operating the branch.
The former Q engine house is still being utilized.

Breakfast spots:
Silver Dollar at the corner of route 47 and route 71 in Yorkville serves a great breakfast.
Southern Belle’s at the corner of Route 47 and 126 comes in a close second.
Country Kitchen in Newark on route 47 features really true home cooking. It’s small and usually full. 10” minutes from Sheridan.

For a town of 20,000 Yorkville has an abundance of pizza places.
Rosattis is best with Mike and Denise’s a close second. They are both just blocks from the Hampton.

Burger Competitors in downtown Yorkville:
Crusades on route 47 at the RR crossing has a 3 page menu of burger options and about 50 different micro brews.
Across the street Rowdy’s has the largest burgers I’ve ever seen. It’s a local bar so don’t go for the atmosphere. But the burgers are awesome.

The best full course dinners are at:
Lake View and Silver Fox. Both on route 34 at opposite ends of town.

Just a long time local guys recommendations.
