Anybody remember the old Radio Advertising "Jingle" "plugging" "Green Marked Coal. Any Irishmen out there will appreciate these words sung to the old Irish Tune "THE WEARIN' OF THE GREEN"
The ad ended with these words..."Upon my soul....This "Green Marked Coal. beats any coal I've seen.
Heard this many times over radio KMA at Shenandoah, IA. back in the days when every house had a coal burning furnace and/or cook or heating stove.

I read in "The Q in the Coal Fields" that it was sprayed with cheap green paint. Does anyone have a picture or a recollection of the the amount of "green" the coal would have as a load or piled up? I thought this might be an interesting to model. Would a load or pile be speckled with green, or more of a greenish hue to the otherwise black load/pile of coal.
Many thanks! -- Matt Smith Bloomington, IL _._,_._,_ Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group. View/Reply Online (#63443) | Reply To Group | Reply To Sender | Mute This Topic | New Topic _._,_._,_
