The only issue with the Library of Congress Sanborn site is that
most of the maps posted are pre-mid-1920s. The latest for Peoria
is 1902. I assume this is for copyright reasons. But they have
said on the LofC web site they intend to digitize them all. Your local library system may subscribe to the Digital Sanborn
maps. This is supposed to be the complete collection that has been
digitized and held by Sanborn's successor Environmental Data
Resources, Inc. The main drawback is that the digitized maps are
only black and white. Another more recent drawback is that you
used to be able to download each map as a Adobe PDF file. Now you
can only download it as an image file. The four volume Peoria set
was last re-published with updates by Sanborn in 1956. There is
anywhere from 80 to 95 sheets per volume. BIll Hirt On 2/13/2022 12:01 PM, o_rrman wrote:
Roger, I love Sanborn maps. I find that the easiest way to find them is to use Google. Here are the keywords I used in the Google search for Peoria : illinois sanborn maps peoria il. Results include the Library of Congress and the University of Illinois. The Library of Congress site address is: loc.gov/collections/sanborn-maps. _._,_._,_ Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
