This is the service flag displayed at Texas A&M towards the end of the war. Not sure why the many stars are in maroon instead of blue, other than maroon is the school’s signature color. In the center are 50 gold stars.

Blue star flags denoted people in service.

Gold star flags denoted people who had died in service.

 

I assume this menat that, as of Jul 1, 1944, the CB&Q had 6764 workers in uniform.

Interesting Burlington piece that I can’t make heads or tails of. Assuming to have something to do with WWII. Any ideas on the significance of the numbers or dates? No luck with the usual search methods. - Derek Thomas
