Ken

3996 is a combination coach-waycar that was built at Galesburg in 1878 and burned at Greenfield in 1951, as opposed to a drovers’ car. I’ve attached a photo of 3996 and there are other photos of it in the BRHS Flickr collection.

Just in passing, 3996 was allocated to class CW-6 in 1910-11 along with most other combination cars of a similar length, between about 44’ and 49’. The allocated was somewhat erratic as 44’ 10” cars were in both CW-5 and CW-6 classes, and CW-6 included a 53’ 2” car. Unfortunately the records for CW cars is very incomplete
