Q Connection is re-releasing our first resin freight car kit, the 1965 GATX Pressure Slide Hoppers, which affectionately became known as “Whalebelly Hoppers.” These superior-quality HO scale craftsman kits are prototypically correct for either the original 1965 SAL (later SCL and CSXT) version or the 1967 CB&Q (later BN and Dragon Products) version. Order the version you want to model to get the appropriate instructions. They are designed as an undecorated, one-piece cast resin tank body with two end caps and other underframe and piping castings by Westerfield. Photo-etched ladders and walkways and other parts, Athearn® A-3 Ride Control roller bearing trucks with metal wheelsets, Kadee® #58 couplers, Hi-Tech Details® brake hoses, 0.015 and 0.0125 wire for brake rods and brake air lines, and 2/56 screws are included. Unfortunately, due to increased costs, the price of the rerun of this awesome kit is only $79.99. Yes, I realize that is high for a kit, however, the kits are complete, all you need to add is paint and Microscale decals (which, by the way, I also have in stock). These cars have only been available previously in brass, most recently from Railway Classics at $285.00 each and now, if you can find them, sell for over $500 each!
