Since Con-Cor did a state-of-the-art version of the Pioneer Zephyr in both N and HO most everybody that wanted one has it already, at least from a market perspective.
Kato’s minimum production numbers are many times the number of units that Con-Cor was able to sell and I counselled Kato not to do it in N…and now they are back to proposing it for HO.
If they do an E5 in HO they should not repeat the mistake they made in N and just do the E5A. From a cost of project standpoint it is dumb to just do the A when having the E5B gives you the opportunity to also sell A-B sets…more SKUs, more sales.
If an articulated train is a priority, the first TCZ or second TCZ would be better choices than the 9900…..twice the number of prototypes, more “paint jobs”, even different railroads.
But logic is not always evident…..
