I remember a sepia tone large format photo of the yards circa 1920-ish at the Chicago History Museum  (Historical Society) prior to the re-make. I spotted 2 Q box cars, possibly XM-18s like the Westerfield kit, parked on a siding. Last time I was there it wasn't on the wall. You may be able to acess this photo through their library.
From the looks of it you'll be spending a small fortune on scale strip wood. Lots of fencing, ramps and decking over the tracks.

The Archives Summer Campaign from 2019 included a CD of the 1918 ICC Valuation Summaries from Chicago to Aurora and Included Montgomery.  It also included the Aurora to West Chicago line.  The Valuation Summaries show the following stockyards at that time:

               Clyde     111’ by 200’ built in 1917  16 pens

               Greggs (now Westmont)              20’ x 56’ 3 pens

               Lisle       4 pens

               Naperville           6 pens

By the time the 1936 Shippers Guide was published, the following changes were made:

Clyde     Still 16 pens, capacity of 16 cars

Greggs (now Westmont)               No longer listed

Lisle       2 pens, capacity of 2 cars

Naperville            2 pens, capacity of 2 cars

As a shameless plug, the CD of the 1918 ICC Valuation Summaries is still available from the BRHS Archives.  You can contact us through the BRHS website.
