Nelson - IF the cab roofs had been painted red oxide, then they were quickly covered with a deep level of coal soot and grime remaining that way to the scrap yard. They look "black" to me, but I can't definitely say one way of the other - Louis

Ray - Go to the Flickr Page.  Under "CB&Q Railroad," click on Albums.  Then, in the second row, click on 0-8-0 Steam Locomotives.  The 0-8-0's are shown by road number.  Scroll down to find the color images of the 543 and 545.

This should answer your questions about the Flickr Page. The 25,000-plus images are a part of the BRHS. Subject matter is divided into Albums.  You'll need a basic understanding of the Burlington Route to find your way around - Louis
