In designing decal art it would be best to include any known variations for a range of similar models. Railroad shops did not always follow “official” stencil drawings and variations did pop up. Photos are the only way to insure a unit is correct for a particular point in time. Numberboards are relatively easy to change out and I’ve seen all manner of styles and combinations of numbers on units…even on the CB&Q. Francis A. Pehowic, Jr. On 631 photo, the cabside font and the number board font are the same. On the 627, the 6 and two are the same but the 7 is totally different. No serif on the cross bar and the stand is curved on the number board and straight on the cabside. I drew a font for some reefers hat is quite similar and could be rather easily revised.
