Randy:
GP40s 170-189 were all delivered with white-on-black number boards, while GP40s 620-639 all came with black-on-white ones, and I have confirmed this with photos of every unit in both series. So, it can be seen that there were no units containing both
the numerals 1 and 7 in their road number that were outfitted with black-on-white number boards.

In Al Holck's Burlington Route Color Pictorial Volume 2, there a picture of 631 with white number boards on p78.

Hi Everyone,
Looking for info and or pictures of Q Chinese Red GP 40’s with white number boards with the numbers 1 and 7 in them. I’ve checked the
rrphotosarchives.com web site and I didn’t see any with those two numbers.
Also when and why did the Q have several different units carrying the white number boards. This information is in line with getting the re-numbering set correct for the GP40’s and several along the way. I’m working with
Circus City Decals & Graphics to get it correct.
Thanks in Advance,
Randy Doman
