Here is the response I received from the editor of the S & D Reflector. Does anyone know how ling they kept either one of these boats? Attached is the photo of the April 1913 fire at the yards of Dubuque Boat and Boiler Works. Unfortunately, at this time I have no additional information regarding the presence of these CB&Q boats in the harbor. Thanks for your interest in the Reflector and for your inquiry. If you should locate any info, I would be very grateful also if you could send that along to us. Dear Sir:
I was looking at the September 2019 issue of the Reflector at the museum that I volunteer at in LeClaire IA. On page 14 of this issue there is a picture taken when the boatyard caught on fire. in the picture are two CB&Q railroad boats, one of which is dredge #20 and harbor boat #201.
I am a member of the Burlington Route Historical Society (BRHS) and I sent this information out to the membership. I had a request to see if a scan of this photo could be acquired. I myself was wondering if any more information could be found or where I might look. The one comment I received as to why the railroad would have a dredge was because they were double tracking up the river at this time and were using this for create the roadbed.
