According to info. Supplied by Hinsdale Historical Society for my upcoming presentation Highlands station was built between 1875-1879. The builders we Alanson & John Reed,
Hinsdale first resident Alfred Walker and developer William Robins. They had petitioned the Q to build a station but the Q said not even business. So they built it. Operated a flag stop and became a regular station in 1904.

Now the history of West Hinsdale station is even stranger but you'll have to come to the presentation or do you're own research.

If interested in the presentation go to Burlingtonroute.org and look under live with Leo in the news section. Take note of dress code and reservation requirements.

Mike-

I have never seen a copy of that drawing that was not light.   I got mine directly from the CB&Q B&B people in the attic of the General Office Building so I think the problem is the original was light.   The copy does not indicate the year the structure was built.   I have never seen any other version of a drawing for Highlands.

In the CbqStationBookBwGreeleyLaCrosse.pdf file, page 24, looks to have the drawing for the (Hinsdale) Highlands station. But it is extremely light and mirrored. If I were to guess, the page was put in the scanner wrong-side-up, and the scan is of what bled through the paper.  Is there any chance of this page getting re-scanned at some point?

And Charlie, I think a suitable punishment for the volunteer would be to cut his wages in half...or double them, for providing a little game of find the mistake - either option should work.  :-)
