Although I like the red CB&Q locos, I prefer originality and have seen no proof of the CB&Q 352 (now 1727) in red, not that I have seen a lot of photos. The Blackbird scheme would be more difficult to repaint but would be preferred for originality's sake and a good choice considering Brookfield was a "Q" town but the question would then be - What of the way car coupled to it? As I understand, it was originally a Frisco way car and would be completely out of place painted in original colors. So, that being said, would both look best together in cascade green?

Check the front cover of BB 50 on the SD's.  It was repainted Chinese red at Lincoln in 1968 and was one of perhaps a dozen SD9s to get the full height (width?) of the side sill painted white.

If it was still in the blackbird scheme in 1968, there's a good chance it never wore Chinese red:

Bryan,

If there is a vote on the paint scheme, I vote for blackbird! By the way, while I am sure you know, you didn’t mention that BNSF 1727 was originally Q 352. I suspect there may be a chance that it operated through Brookfield, MO.

BNSF 1727 is an ex-Q SD9. The plan for it is to go to a Q scheme, but last I knew, they hadn't decided black or red yet.
