I just bought a freight car model that came with a reweigh date and other fresh data very close to my modelled era.  I'm wondering what kind of treatment cars would have received as part of this process, mostly so I know how much weathering to apply.  Would freight cars be washed or would they just clean the patch where the new stenciling would need to adhere. that kind of thing.
As always, any help appreciated.
