Glen,

Knowing you I suspect you've already searched the following sources but if not.....

Since you are member go to the BRHS website, members only,Flicker,Annual reports. They list anybody who is anybody and in the early years there are numerous reports from various officials.

Subject: [CBQ] Help with CB&Q Officers Positions from long ago

I would like some help with identifying the positions held by some of the CB&Q officers listed below, between the late 1870's and about 1900.  These names are included in correspondence concerning double tracking of the former Burlington and Missouri River Railroad and the CB&Q in Iowa.

Names included C. E. Perkins, who of course was President of CB&Q, and W. L. Breckenridge, who I have determined was Chief Engineer of CB&Q in the year 1901.

There are four other names I cannot identify.  They are L. B. Jackson, W. Beckwith, J. M. Dering, and T. S. Howland.  From the correspondence, these gentleman appear to be in engineering positions.  Jackson, Dering and Howland are mentioned in correspondence with Breckenridge shortly after 1900.  Beckwith is mentioned in correspondence with Perkins in the late 1870's.  Beckwith in particular is sharing engineering information and cost estimates with Perkins, so I wonder if he might have been Chief Engineer of B&MR, or perhaps he was heading up B&MR and reported to Perkins.

At first I thought that Beckwith might be the source of the station name of Beckwith, but the name exists in timetables when W. Beckwith is still an employee.

I have not been able to find these names in any other publications, such as Overton's book on the history of the Burlington.
