Tom,
The slide is badly mislabeled. The scene in the slide was shot from the corner of Pierce St and Aurora Ave at the very North end of the Aurora Shops. It looks NW. The loco is on the original Aurora branch(West Chicago branch). The scrap yard is Fox Valley Iron and Metal. The spur in front of the loco is the Q signal dept store track where occasionally line poles, etc. we're unloaded.
For those who are BRHS member receiving the Bulletin and those who purchase it the History of the property behind the loco will be discussed in a soon to published Bulletin. You'll have to read the Bulletin.
The large brick building in the background was a Steel Supply Co. which received mill Gons of I beams delivered by the Aurora day switch crew on a spur roughly at Illinois Ave(behind the loco). The west side of the steel company building was bordered by the former C.A.&E. mainline.
