I was studying the original Black Hawk photo a bit more (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-68-Kodachrome-Slide-CB-Q-Burlington-Route-9989A-E9A-Black-Hawk-1X45-/372708238339?_trksid=p2047675.m43663.l10137&nordt=true&rt=nc&orig_cvip=true) and it is clear the first car is a Burlington converted kitchen car with the indented door. The second cars is the same height, so definitely could be a REX 6600-6899 series converted Troop Sleeper as the height (13' 9") would be the same as the Burlington car. The fourth car definitely appears to be a GN 2600-2649 Express Box (13'8" high) or GN/REX 2200-2249 Express Reefer (13' 5") high. The third car, however, seems to be noticeably shorter than the other head-end cars. I'm wondering if it might be one of the Santa Fe Express Reefers since both series 4000-4049 and 4050-4099 show in my July 1968 ORER as only being 13" 1" high. If the trailing GN Express car is a 13' 8" high Express Box, that would put cars 1,2, and 4 at about the same height, with noticeably shorter Santa Fe car in between. Also, the 3rd and 4th car seem to lack side sill notches. The GN cars were straight sill cars, and so were the 4000-4049 Santa Fe REX cars.
Other observations would be appreciated.
Does anyone know the height of a Q converted troop kitchen or where I would find a diagram?
BTW, did anyone on this list happen to win the slide???
