A good question.  I can not tell you it's on the caboose track but during that time period the Q handled a lot of new travel trailers on flat cars.  The reason given to me was that the State of Illinois had some restrictions on moving trailers over the highway through the state.  One way to avoid this was to move them by rail.  A lot of trailers were (and still are) built in Northern Indiana and Michigan and those sold to customers west of Illinois had to get them some way.  You have to remember the Interstate Highway network was still being built at this time.  The restrictions were lifted later in the '60s and the traffic disappeared.  A different load for the model railroaders.
