"I was riding a westbound Afternoon Hiawatha that detoured over the Q from LaCrosse to the joint line in 1969. A Milwaukee switcher coupled onto the Skytop (where we were riding) in the Milwaukee's LaCrosse depot and pulled the whole Hi backwards around a tight curve until the E units were clear of a eye turnout to gain the Q main just south of North LaCrosse tower. While on that right curve we could see our E units down a cross street. Cool movement!
