The Archive Committee continues to work on the ice house paint information. Researchers Jim Singer, Glen Haug and Al Kamm have looked into this along with other matters during today's work session. The attached photo shows a laborer icing a car at the facility in Clyde. Photo dates to October 1962. Notice that the surface of the icing platform is not painted. This is similar to unpainted running boards (roof walks) on boxcars to insure good footing. The ice house may have been painted to Q standards, but the platform was not. This photo is from the Paul Vasich collection in the BRHS archives and should not be reproduced without permission. Al Kamm

Zephyr No. 47 published in 2003 contained a copy of the CB&Q RR Standard Color Schedule for Painting Structures. Drawing No. 67700 was created in 1930. The drawing version in the Zephyr was last updated in 1936. Among the buildings specifically identified in the drawing are Ice Houses. They were to receive the Structural Mineral Red/Bronze Green Paint scheme. The insert as published in the Zephyr contained color samples of the exterior and interior colors specified on the drawing. Back issues of No. 47 can be obtained from the BRHS Company Store. Al Kamm

The Burlington Route Historical Society has over 1800 drawings of line side structures from the Ivan Parks Collection. If you are a BRHS member, contact the Archives to inquire if they have completed cataloging the drawings and if such a drawing is available. If not a member of the BRHS, information can be found at www.burlingtonroute.org. Sent from Xfinity Connect Application _._,_._,_
