Hi Ben,

The C&S had at least three series of 65'-6" gondolas...

CS 21000-21049, drop ends, side sill tapers over 2-1/2 panels. Delivered in Mineral Red Scheme, Built by Havelock Shops?

CS 21050-21069, fixed ends, side sill tapers over 4 panels, Delivered in Chinese Red, Built by Ortner, 1965 (See attached photo of car I'm presently scratch-building)

CS 567850-567899, fixed ends, side sill tapers over 1 panel, Delivered in Cascade Green, Built by Thrall, 1972?

The Athearn 65'-6" gon, at best, is a stand-in for CS 21050-21069. The model is based off a ATSF gon with drop ends. The model and prototype also has a side sill that  tapers over 5 panels, and I believe,  has one panel less than the C&S gons. If accuracy isn't an issue, there was an article in Prototype Modeler Magazine back in the late 1980's on how to kit-bash one of the C&S gons using, I believe, an Eastern Car Works AAR 65'-6" gondola. The Eastern Car Works model is almost a near match to the Athearn gondola. The magazine can be found at trainlife.com.
