All-
Seeing this thread on Bernie Corbin’s locomotives brings to mind the Burlington Junior outside third rail layout that was located in the basement of a funeral home in Berwyn or Cicero until the mid-1960s.
The director had a daughter who was married to a CB&Q mechanical department official and the railroad got plans for new equipment before it was in service.
Many of the cars and locomotives were fashioned from tin cans but there were some very nice models from Pomona Valley and other early manufacturers. I especially remember a very nice Aeolus 4000 model and a set of E5s.
The trains were powered by huge K&D motors that gave off a heavy scent of ozone as they traveled at top speed around the railroad.
I don’t know what ever happened to the equipment after the railroad was torn down…AFAIK none of it has ever surfaced…
