Upon further review, two Q baggage cars are also included in this sale as well. Silver Coyote off the California Zephyr and Silver Treasure, which was built for pool service. This sale, and the one just completed, represent ALL of the remaining Heritage Fleet cars still on the roster. Looks like we have some updating to do of cars that have been scrapped by Amtrak on our surviving cars list.

Amtrak has another round of cars for sale, this time most of the remaining heritage diners. Five of the cars in the sale are former Q cars. Hopefully one or more of these cars will find homes in private hands or museums. One of the former Q cars will remain in Amtrak hands for the time being, that being the Silver Bit, which was built as a coach for the 1956 DZ and converted to a cafeteria car then dining car by Amtrak. One of the former North Coast Limited cars that was transferred to the Q is also still in service, in use to fill out axle requirements on Amtrak trains running on CN tracks in Illinois and UP tracks in Missouri. ![]()
