Charlie, Rupert and others,

Interestingly, the two assignment sheets included in the Corbin book, show two
different styles. Both use all caps, but in 1935, a class was written as O 1 A
with a space between each letter. In the 1952 sheet, the class is written O1 A,
with a space only between the class number and the sub designation. Of course,
there is no space where there was no sub class. Admittedly, the column width
use in 1952 is narrower than in 1935 where may have precluded the extra space
used in 1935. On the locomotive cabs, in all the photos that I have seen, it
was always capital letters with no hyphens or spaces.
