Hi Glen and group.  The Pea Vine book says the Gilchrist RIS crossing was omitted from the March 2, 1952 Timetable #61.  The RIS discontinued freight operations on the "Northern Division"  in February, 1952.  Bud Linroth

I have a few questions on the Galva to New Boston line.

There used to be a station at Hopewell, between Alpha and Viola.  I have some notes taken from an old map regarding a spur at Hopewell that was slightly over 3 miles long.  Evidently it went to the north.  Does anyone know what this spur was for (coal mine?).  I find no reference to the spur in timetables, however the station at Hopewell is still in Galesburg #47 dated April 28, 1940, but missing from #52 dated May 9, 1943.  Does anyone have a more precise date when the station and spur were removed.

There was a Rock Island and Southern crossing at Gilchrest, and I am looking for a removal date.  It is shown in Galesburg #57 dated June 15, 1947, but missing from #62 dated February 1, 1953.

Thanks for any information.
