I always enjoy looking at the "dress" of all the fans gathered around..Everybody is kind of "semi" dressed up..Men have on hats and women..regular woman clothes..This may be heresy, but I enjoy the "embyance" of the the scene as much as looking at the engine itself.

Subject: [CBQ] Anniversary Date

Just an FYI for all members. Today, November 2 2018 is an anniversary date for the older Q fans that had an opportunity to ride some of the fine fan trips operated by the Q from 1955 to 1966. On this date, November 2, 1958, some 60 years ago, CB&Q O5B no. 5632 made it’s debut in fan trip service with a trip from Chicago to Galesburg and return. It was sponsored by the Q and was billed as a re run of the Aristocrat. Attached are a couple of photos taken on that first trip. At the time, 5632 had been assigned to Lincoln and was stored there. After some clean up including polished rods, a Lincoln trademark, it was sent east as a light engine movement. I saw it headed east going through Downers Grove on the Thursday before the trip. Unfortunately, the polished rods disappeared after the first year on Lines East. More unfortunate was the locomotive’s sad demise some years later. On a happier note, three of her sister locomotives are still around plus the 5614 which was an earlier version of the O5.
