I went to high school next to the Q tracks from August '51 to May '55, with summers off. I remember the 4 TCZs. Power was E5A&B until sometime in the late '54-'55 period when it changed to E5AA. I do not recall ever seeing an E7 or an E8 used, although, never
say never. I remember the EB as having an E?A-Shovelnose A-E?A lashup, and about when the TCZ went E5AA, the EB went to 3 Es. When the NCL speeded up - I forget if it was fall of '52 or fall of '53 - it ran in the day time, and I saw E?-Shovelnose B-Shovelnose
A. I mention EB and NCL because between them, they used all 6 of the 9904-5-6-7 units, and I believe the Es were not E5s. I think the Burlington Bulletin Shovelnose issue may nail down the precise time when the shovelnoses stopped being used on the TCZ.
