Keith,
As part of the BRHS meet in Quincy, we visited the Q depot in
Fort Madison, IA. Inside the depot is a nicely restored Q Fairmont
speeder. It was painted yellow.

This might be
information that could be useful to others. I contacted the
CBQ and BRHS lists in July and August regarding speeders
used on the Burlington. After not receiving any responses,
I contacted my friend Rupert Gamlen who is very
knowledgeable about everything CBQ. He suggested that I
contact NARCOA (North American Railcar Operators
Association). I had a nice conversation with the Area 6
Representative (IL, MN, WI). He thought that originally in
the 1940's and 1950's the speeders were painted safety
orange. Later, they were painted yellow. If anyone can
verify this or has early color photos, I would appreciate
it. Hope this helps other BRHS members.

I
have been looking through the BRHS web page and
my books to find information on Burlington
speeders (color, manufacturers, photos). Any
help in directing me to the right source would
be most appreciated. Thank you.
