I want to thank all the BRHS members who staffed our tent at the Sandwich Fair.
I think we all enjoyed the camaraderie, fair sites, sounds, foods and of course
The Otto's scale Q Hudson pulling trainloads of fair goers.
We introduced scores and scores of people to BRHS and the history of the
Burlington.
Several hundred dollars in Bulletin sales and 14 new members were part of the
results of our efforts. There will likely be more new members signing up later
from all the membership applications taken home.
The proceeds allow the society to continue producing our excellent Bulletins
and the efforts to preserve and further disseminate knowledge about the
Burlington.
Members have a second opportunity to continue this success at Lyon Farm Fall
Festival on Sept 29 & 30 where we will be staffing the original Burlington
Plano, IL depot and the Aurora,IL built waycar number 13818. Please go to the
BRHS web site and sign up to volunteer for a few hours talking to folks about
the Burlington.
As a volunteer we will arrange free admittance to the festival for you and
later you can enjoy all the other activities of the festival. You can read
about them at the BRHS website.
Our efforts result in a stronger and larger BRHS which helps continue the
efforts to save and share the history of the railroad.
Thanks,
Leo Phillipp
Board member & VP Projects-BRHS
