January 27: Steam and diesel Iron Horse Tour will leave Chicago
C&NW station 10 a. m. via C&NW Chicago to West Chicago,
CB&Q West Chicago to Aurora (original lines of both
railroads), and via Mendota and Denrock to Sterling; C&NW
Sterling to Chicago. CB&Q Mikado No. 4960 will pull C&NW
yellow equipment from Aurora to Sterling. Consist will be C&NW
800-series coaches, snack car, and 110 v. A.C. baggage car with
open slatted doors. Group will return to C&NW station,
Chicago, about 7:15 p. m. Round-trip fare, including tax and
donation to CB&Q steam preservation fund, $10.75. Tickets and
information are available via mail from Chicago & North
Western, 400 W. Madison St., Chicago 6, Ill.; Chicago, Burlington
& Quincy, 105 W. Adams St., Chicago 3, Ill.; or Railroad Club
of Chicago, 55 E Bellevue Pl., Chicago 11, Ill.

matched set of yellow-and-green streamlined cars from the
C&NW. It originated in Chicago from the
C&NW
depot (CPT) and ran to West Chicago where it was turned over
to the Burlington Route to run down the branch

Batavia. At Aurora the 4960 was tied on for the run west to
IIRC Denrock. The train got back on the C&NW at
Agnew
for the return to Chicago. The trip was organized by Jim
Neubauer for the Railroad Club of Chicago.
Does
anyone have the flier for this trip (or-gasp-a TN)? There
should have been a notice in the "Running Extra" section
of TRAINS
magazine for December '61 or January '62. Any help would
be appreciated. I can't find any paperwork or
notes
in my stuff and, apparently, I also have CRS. Thanks.
