3666 ran on the Lincoln-Nebraska City local for many years.  I distinctly remember that number and seeing it in the Lincoln yard.  I think that, perhaps, there was a picture or so in one of the Q Color Books.  In fact I may have actually ridden in and slept in that car if it was being used on the "Shubert Turn" in September 1956 when I made a trip on that job.  Called at Lincoln 11:00 am Sept.10 with engine 400 (first of the 400 series of lightweight SD7's  purchased specifically for use on the Nebraska Branch lines went away in 1952.  Arrived Shubert 10:45pm...Tied up 11:15pm.  Left Shubert next morning  7:15am  (right on our rest)..arrived Lincoln 2:48 pm tied up 3:39 pm..(Just enough to get the "Terminal Hour.

I'm not ABSOLUTELY certain that we had the 3666, but she was running on that job at that time.

Fully documentation of the above times from my timebook of that summer.

It was converted to passenger-baggage combine #3666 in July 1953, and ended up as a building in Denver in October 1963. What happened to it between May 1952 and July 1953? (Not much?)

It's partially stripped, sitting on the deadline at Lincoln awaiting scrapping or conversion into an unmotorized combine (I'd have to check the roster to say which).  The photo dates to May 1952, and below is another version of it.

I wondered that myself...it is very strange looking.  If I didn't know better, I
would think the Q was trying out ramjet technology on their doodlebugs...

Cheers!
