The Q used several types of ballast and it varies by region, era, and type of 
track. Your best bet is to obtain the alignment charts for the area you're 
modeling. Alignment charts show the types of ballast and the date it was 
applied.

Hi all,

Did the Q use one main type of ballast on all of their mainlines, or would it 
have varied by region? Same for yards. I'm trying to determine which colors to 
use on my Q n-scale layout.
