I've had both the BRHS and MP206 calendars in the past and frankly don't understand, beyond faulty months, days, holiday data errors or personal opinions of the subject matter how  the BRHS  version is "marginal".
Certainly any member can work up something better and supply it soon to the Board.
Randy certainly puts out a quality product but it doesn't come as a benefit of BRHS basic membership.

Note-  it should be remembered that John has done his part with his monumental Bulletin on the Q in the Illinois coal fields, so I am not jumping on him....but I don't see what's wrong with the calendar.

Why can Randy put out such a good product, when the BRHS sticks us with a marginal effort? Just saying.

A quick review for those of you who are not on the annual purchase list (Randy normally has a small handful of extras so don't delay).
As usual, this is THE railroad calendar to have for any generic RR fans & more so for Burlington enthusiasts.  Randy's sources are varied and deep and his photo repro, esp. older Kodachrome and any duotone (think the "Waycar" book) are unexcelled.  As always what I like is the detail around the subject matter than assists period modeling.  Ex: the cover photo is C&S 3' #641 is right out of a Walther's catalog given the seemingly painted 'backdrop', "Woodland Scenics" weed-like foreground and the brown oxide Q cov'd hoppers in the consist behind a D&RGW coal hopper (those Q hoppers were a ltd run model a dozen yrs ago or so).    This year's cal is 11 color & 2 duotone - all from the late Joseph Douda.  Among them: "50's Mail train @ West-mont, 2 blackbird GP-7 led trains @ Downer's with #243 and a mixed? (ex-Kitchen Car behind a GP); motorcars @ Lincoln; C&S s.g. mixed in "54; pre-bi-level E-8 dinky @ W. Hinsdale (1st time I've ever seen a suburban pic with a line of the Agt's laundry hanging from the depot!); 6 car steam wrecker train in WY; Whitcomb center cab in Newark, IL; a Prairie led frt @ Wever, IA; a classic bright white FTAB/F2 set leading a string of wood reefers & box cars; C&S steam yard work in Denver (classic FW&D company service tank car being switched) and a steam-led C&S snow train in WY (consist included 2 loaded gons for ballast plus a boarding car, tank car & 2 waycars & a 6 unit consist of F's, Geeps & UP power leading a freight out of Chicago in "61.  So "50 & 60's, steam & early diesel, Lines West & East & enough peripheral stuff to please the detail hounds.  Tks again Randy for helping older Q fans/emps to 'remember' & younger ones to see it as it was.     Gerald
