So are you saying the RPO cycled through the North Coast Limited, Empire Builder and Morning Zephyr? Or was it put on whichever train when they were ready?

The question still remains as to whether the GN's RPO off the EB ever ran through the Chicago. Normally it was taken off at St. Paul and replaced with a Q RPO.

I suspected that to be the case. Was there a regular pattern as to which days the mail was on the EB and which days was on the Blackhawk?

Group,

Does anyone have any insight as to how the Chicago-Savannah-St. Paul RPO operated in the late 50s into the 60s? In some photos and consist lists of the westbound and eastbound Empire Builder, the Silver Post is shown as part of the consist. However, it appears that this was not an everyday occurrence. How was the mail handled then on days the RPO did not run on the Builder.  Also, Thomas Strauss states in one of his GN books that the EB Seattle-St. Paul RPO started running through to Chicago in the early 60s, but I have not been able to find any photos or consists the support this.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
