Thanks Louis. I saw lots of Q Northerns from the back yard of my grandfather's house in Earlville in the early to mid 1950's. Many of these trains were started, having stopped for the junction with the C&NW, or having started from a small yard just west of Earlville. By the time the Northern's got to the back of my grandfather's house, the drivers's would slip madly, and gigantic clouds of smoke would spew out until the engineer "got her feet".
