Chinese Red did not come into use until the late 50’s, I think 1958 (not home so cannot look it up). Prior to that CBQ stockcars were a dark boxcar red, close to a brown.

Noel - I can't answer your first question, but I can the second, FIVE. The following Wales West whistle blow video is a little dated (I'm now quite a bit grayer), but will show you what an O-5 whistle looks like:

 

 

No doubt my whistles would've sounded a lot better with 200 psi steam, but this will give you an idea.... These two Q steam whistles were pretty much standardized on most classes. Best Regards - Louis
