Dennis -

I understand you feelings about Bernie's contributions to the history of the CB&Q.  His models were very good.  However, those prices are representative of what some excellent O scale models from a number of builders are going for.

I inherited a large collection of O scale from my late father.  Selling off the portions of the steam engine collection I do not have room for yielded sales on many of the engines in that price range.  I still have an excellent model of a Chicago West Pullman & Southern 0-6-0 built by Fred Icken, another talented O scale modeler and custom builder.  Been trying to sell that for about 7 years.  Even at $500 for the engine, I've had no takers.  Of course, it's specific to one small Chicago area road so there may not be a lot of interest.

Bernie's engines, for the most part, are quite specific to the Q.  There's only a few O scalers within the BRHS and I don't think there are a huge number outside the BRHS.  I think the auction service got a pretty good price for the sellers on those locomotives.

Regards,

Al Kamm III

I would think models of Bernie Corbin should be considered for purchase by the BRHS for the archives due to their historical significance relative to Bernie's contributions to preserving the history of the CB&Q.
Those prices are an insult to the work and research that man put into those models.

The O-3 is definitely a Corbin model and the O-4 probably is too.  Bernie built several locomotives for Jim Seacrest over the years.

While doing an ebay search of CB&Q brass some unidentified O-scale steam locomotives surfaced.  The O-4 looks like it may be one of his but the O-3 is a dead ringer for the one on page 16 of BB 36.  Any ideas?
