Tim, Fairmont did have a weed burner, in fact several different models. Attached is a color photo of one in use on the M&StL. Also a series of photos from the Fairmont Archives that shows another model.

 

The M&StL also converted one of their GE gas-electrics to a weed sprayer, GE-25. It had the sprayer wands attached at the rear of the unit with hoses coming from inside, and often towed a tankcar. Photo attached.
