Charlie - Personally, from the carefully tin-capped stack, shut tight cab windows, old style cuckoo clock headlight and generally weathered appearance of the locomotive, I'd date the image to sometime during the Great Depression. The hopper car behind No. 5001 appears to have a removable top. Yes, quite interesting, particularly if the image dates to the 1930s. First time I've seen such a car in an old image. May be Rupert or another Group member can check their Q Equipment Registers for the 1930s and see if any such type cars appear. Perhaps. the car was in cement service. If so, then Hannibal might be a more logical location than St. Joseph as the image caption speculates. The Corbin Book reports No. 5001 was sold for scrap in March 1947, so the image predates then. Any other educated "guesses" out there? Best Regards - Louis

The following link is to a photo of CB&Q #5001 but there is a hopper with a cover on it in the background which is interesting.
