In addition to the usual 'swap' meet (more on that in a moment) there is a 'silent auction'. This was very successful at the Dubuque annual meet & I believe was available at last year's meet. I encourage you to participate! Many of you may have an extra Athearn loco, an unbuilt classic Campbell structure kit, an old timetable, brochure or annual pass but do not wish to invest in a table and/or give up 4 hours manning said table. So if you have a just a few items to sell, bring them! For a very modest fee (ONLY if the item sells), YOU set the min. bid. At worst the item goes unbid - you have no expenditure and only used up one minute of your time to fill out the form to auction same. At best, you get higher bids than you were hoping for, pocket some profits, make another Burlington fan happy yet again, have only invested a minute or two of your time! Win-w
in!
So dig out those unwanted or excess models, railroadiana, books, etc.
As for the "swap" meet, like Dubuque, this meet is being WELL publicized in a 4 state area to dealers, individual collectors AND the general public. A lot more potential buyers for YOUR items so consider a table AND/OR be prepared to spend a few dollars as you will find far more Burlington items to buy than normal. La Crosse is a RR town (with Q nee BN and Milw nee CP crews changing, yards, local switching, etc,) AND centrally located to major population centers and of course is an Amtrak stop.
Bring Burlington 'things' and bring your checkbook - Christmas is coming & you deserve it!
Enjoy! Gerald
