Wow!  You came up with that one in a hurry!!  That being the case, the tracks veering off to the right would have been at the east end of the depot platform, the old DMO&S.

And sure enough, a March 1966 ad in the same newspaper lists going out of business auctions for George Hall Gran's two elevators: Weldon and Osceola.

According to a 1952 Pfizer animal antibiotics ad in the Des Moines Register, George Hall Grain Company was in Weldon, Iowa, and nowhere else in the state.  But Weldon is 20 miles south of Osceola and not on the Q, so maybe by the 1960s they had expanded up to Osceola.

Hi All,

 

The attached image is identified as being taken in Osceola, Iowa, however, from my recollections, the George Hall Grain elevator doesn't ring a bell and from the curvature of the track in the distance the train would have had to have been westbound, but there is no elevator on the east side of Osceola.

 

Does anyone recognize this as being somewhere else?
