Doug - THANKS for sharing Pete's childhood snapshots with us. I've got a better image of Class T-2 No. 4108 taken at Denver, CO. The image is undated, but must be from the very early 1950s when the locomotive was taken out-of-service and put in dead line at the Denver Shops. If you look closely, the 2-8-8-2 type still has its tender oil bunker. I've both inserted and attached the image:

It's a little interesting to me that the Q would move the dead locomotive all the way from Denver to the greater Chicago, IL, area to scrap it, rather than having it cut-up right there in Denver. So, the 4108 met the 7007 in Lincoln and both went east together in July 1953 to meet the fiery cutting torch in some Illinois scrap yard. Best Regards - Louis

Pete mentioned some photos he had. Last summer he visited me and shared some photos he had taken of Villisca in the 50s, which he let me scan. In Villisca that day was a string of dead engines, including 4108 &7007. Pete’s photos are attached. He can tell us the date, I don’t recall it.
