Dale- I’ve made up a sketch to use for the Stearns’ to do field measurements on the one they have. When I get the dimensions I’ll work up a drawing and send it to you to use for your 3D model as I figured you would at least want to use it as a backup light on your O1A. I’d like a 3D file so I can get Shapeways to make one in 1/160 scale… Thanks, Charlie Vlk From: CBQ@yahoogroups.com [mailto:CBQ@yahoogroups.com] Sent: Thursday, April 21, 2016 9:01 AM To: CBQ@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [CBQ] Q Cuckoo Clock Headlights I'm working this over in my head. I have Corbin's book and can scan it. I was just looking it over. It would be even easier it Scott and Nancy could verify if what they have access to matches. Then using the app I mentioned, make a 3d model. Hey Scott, Pictures and dimensions would be great. If yo do this take some flat, or parallel to each surface. Then I can scale, within reason, other feature when I have one known dimension and a flat picture. Obliques are also good as they show details, or intersections of different surfaces. Not signing up for this project yet, but leaning towards it. Anytime I think something will be fairly easy it seems to turn into a problem. Both have the Cuckoo Clock headlight. I also have a Precision Scale "0" scale of the headlight in brass somewhere. I will see if I can find it. If not I will order a couple from Precision, since In need some 1:32 parts from them anyhow. Will the drawings and Precision part help you in doing a 3D print of the headlight. If so I can mail them to you. I will need your snail mail address. This is a great help to Q modelers since this headlight is so unique to the Q. At this time I do not think it will be necessary for you to get the measurements from #710. Thanks for your offer. I remember when she was in Antelope Park. Saw her once when she was moved to her present location after the cosmetic restoration. Beautiful engine.

And thinking further - It would be a great experiment to send the headlight to my 3d printer in any scale. I'd love to do that. I don't get out there anymore since mom passed in 2005. Maybe Pete could help me out on this since he lives in Lincoln. Hey Pete can you help me out on this one please?? The 710 in Lincoln has one that could be measured….. The late Hank Balinski probably had a drawing in his collection or made one up to do his 3” scale one for his Class A live steamer. I have searched the net high and low for measurements of the famous Cuckoo Clock Headlight. No Luck! I cannot believe that somewhere in the Q Archives that there are drawings, dimensions and information on these unique items. Can anyone help me. I am attempting to make some up in 1:32 scale for a live steam loco.
