IF you have ever pumped one of the old Pump Cars you will be glad to have this Indian powered.
Many roads had cars of similar types including the Geese of the RGS
Steve in SC
Pumped the La Salle and Bureau County back in the '60's with permission.  Some sunday mornings were done on guts

Doug - If there is one thing I'm missing in my digital collection of Q images, it's MOW people and equipment. I really appreciate what you have shared with our Group. My younger brother Ken is a lifelong fan of Indian motorcycles and has one in his garage. I will share your Indian-motorized push car image with him. What an interesting image that shows genuine mechanical ingenuity, something that made the USA the greatest country on earth. In return, let me share two images with you and our Group. One image shows how the Mexican gandy dancers lived in derelict box cars on the west end of the Eola Yard in an undated view. The other image shows what I believe to be a section foreman's large family of girls posed on a pile of cross ties in their Sunday best on some long forgotten afternoon. I wonder how their mom got any creosote out of their white dresses.... This is a part of the Q that is by now almost totally forgotten. The "little people" that made the Burlington Route so GREAT! Thanks and best regards - Louis

Louis the photo you posted, looks to be a Fairmont. The front wheels look like a Fairmont design. Attached is a photo from the Fairmont archives that looks very similar to the push car in your photo.

Just to show the ingenuity of railroads, also attached is a photo showing how an Indian motorcycle was used to power a hand car.
