Seeing all the engines being scrapped at NWS&W reminds me of the (I think) O1/O1a/O2/O3s sans tender drawbarred cab to cab that were sitting at the Harbor Belt Yard in Congress Park / LaGrange Park. 

I was climbing over them when I heard a steam whistle and a fantrip went over the bridge westbound.   It would have been maybe 1956 or 1957.   Of course the only camera I had was one of those comic book spy cameras that used 8mm film and of course I never even got them developed.   I sure would like to see photos of those engines!!

I am guessing they weren’t on the way to Sterling but perhaps a scrap yard in the south side of Chicago or over the border in Indiana….
