Group,

RP Cyc volume 30 is indeed a wonderful complement to BB20 for Q HC-1 covered hoppers.  Since I can use 20 or more of these on the layout, I would like to try to get a good handle on the painting before committing to building these.  BB20 generally states the original lettering was mineral red with white lettering.  The RP Cyc states on p99 "the car was in original paint including mineral red sides and ends; black roof, underbody, and trucks; white stencils." and the color picture of 180973 sure seems to back that up.  Are there original Q paint specifications for any of these cars?

I sure would like to get this right since they will each be a large investment in time starting with the Intermountain kit with the Yarmouth 103 Type 3 roof and Jerry Hammsmith decals.  Assuming the black roof and hopper bottoms is correct, this will be an odd look needing a lot of weathering to not look stark and odd.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.
