The EMD FT A-B-B-A set demonstrated on the Q, but of course the Burlington purchased FT's. I have a digital shot of CB&Q GP30 977 leading the EMD DD35B demonstrator with a Q GP30 trailing (a GP30-DD35B-GP30 set) at Naperville, IL on 11-29-1963. I seem to remember seeing a photo of one of the GE U-boat demonstrators (one of the later model black units with the small GE logo on the cab) on the Q, I think in or around Denver. I don't recall seeing any Alco or F-M demonstrators on the Q, which would not be surprising since the Q never had any F-M's and just a few Alco S-2's. Being mainly an EMD and (later) GE road, I don't think the Q was ever really that big on testing the oddball Alco's or F-M's.

Many different types of locomotives were found on other railroads that were not purchased by the Burlington. Being a model railroader, I would like to run some locomotives in their demonstrator color schemes on my CBQ layout. In order to authenticate their existence on the CBQ, is there a list or photos of older diesels that the Burlington "tried out" but never purchased (like an Alco RS-11 or a Fairbanks Morse Train Master)? Thank you for any guidance.
