Over on the IlliniRail list someone provided photos.

Located near the east end of the station and the shelter across the way, the entrances are now covered over with a concrete patch

I’ve never seen anything that would suggest that there was a pedestrian subway at Riverside.   While the shelter on the North Side of the tracks might have accommodated a stairwell there is no evidence of any such opening on the station side of the tracks.  The one at Congress Park was added to accommodate the mainline increase in elevation  and eliminate the problem of the interchange track blocking the eastbound track….plus the fact that a derailment wiped out the front of the station anyway.
A subway at Riverside would have been prone to flooding from the Des Plaines River so I doubt that it was ever considered there.

Does anyone recall if there ever was a pedestrian subway under the tracks at Riverside IL that connected with a small passenger shelter? I do not recall seeing any signs of one, but since I only get out to Riverside once a year for their big car show I might have missed it, or signs from the past.
